Where smell goes
Every other sense takes a detour before it reaches memory. Smell does not. It travels from the nose to the parts of the brain that hold emotion and recollection, which is why a single breath can feel like an entire afternoon.
The first wearing
The first days you wear a perfume are the ones it will remember you by. Wear it somewhere you love, with people you love, and it quietly files those hours away.
Making it yours
Keep one scent for long enough and it stops being a perfume. It becomes the way a coat smells in October, the way a scarf smells when someone hands it back.

Rose
Picked at dawn in May, when the petals hold the most oil. It turns honeyed and warm on skin.
